Is the Air Jordan II University Blue a tribute to Michael Jordan’s days as a student athlete at the University of North Carolina? It’s pretty clear that most University Blue colorways of Air Jordans have been a nod to Jordan’s collegiate years as a dorset ram (better recognized as a Tar Heel, though the name has nothing to do with the animal). The color blue isn’t a first for the Air Jordan II – remember the Air Jordan II “Melo” and the Air Jordan II Low of 2004 – but never has it owned so much of the upper. In addition to the eye-catching color is the translucent “ice” sole and the new JORDAN branding on the heel – an obvious contemporary take on a Jordan logo. These have already popped up at select shops but will officially release tomorrow, July 31st.
